Anthropic tops OpenAI as most valuable AI startup, nears $1T valuation

Anthropic is now Silicon Valley’s most valuable AI company.

Anthropic’s latest round comes as leading AI model makers prepare to go public.

SpaceX, the parent company of Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup SpaceXAI, filed its prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission last week on its way to an initial public offering.

When Musk merged SpaceX with his artificial intelligence startup in February, the combined company was valued at $1.25 trillion.

CNBC confirmed that OpenAI is preparing to file its confidential IPO prospectus in the coming days or weeks.

The startup, led by Sam Altman, plans to go public in September, a source familiar with the matter said. The person spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal decisions.

Not to be left too far behind, Anthropic is also preparing for an IPO behind the scenes, CNBC previously reported, though the timing of that effort remains fluid.
