Russia ‘preparing to use tactical nuclear weapons on Ukraine’ | World | News

Ukraine has sent a fearful World War III warning to the world, claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to use tactical nuclear weapons.

This message came from Ukrainian military commander Roman Kostenko, who believes his country must increase its preparations for the use of weapons of mass destruction.

Kostenko told Ukrainian news outlet Channel 24 that he believed Russia would resort to nuclear weapons if it felt like it was losing the war.

He believes Russia could attack with tactical nuclear weapons with a capacity of several to dozens of kilotons.

Targets can be military bases, troop concentrations, infrastructure, decision-making centers and major cities.

The military leader added that he had registered a bill proposing to separate the biological, chemical and nuclear security strategy into a separate section.

He claimed that this was necessary to maximize preparedness for the use of nuclear weapons, as he believed that the Russian threat was now at that level.

“This will be a separate strategy in our national security law,” he said.

This comes after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Wednesday “a new phase in the use of Ukrainian weapons to limit Russia’s war potential.”

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) later announced that Transneft’s oil pumping and distribution facility in the city of Perm was attacked that day, where oil is pumped to the Perm refinery and via pipeline in four directions across Russia.

The SBU said the facility was “a strategically important hub of the main oil transportation system” and preliminary information suggested that “almost all oil storage tanks were burned.”

Ukraine’s latest campaign has begun to provoke angry reactions from the Russian government.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the attacks on oil facilities as “terrorist attacks”.

In the announcement made by the Russian Ministry of Defense, it was stated that “due to the current operational situation”, cadets and a military equipment group will not participate in this year’s Victory Day parade, which is held to commemorate the end of World War II.
