C.V. Anand reviews facilities at Cherlapalli Central Prison

Special Chief Secretary (Home) CV Anand visited the Central Jail in Cherlapalli on Thursday to review the prison management, inmates’ welfare and remedial initiatives implemented across the state.

The Special Chief Secretary inspected the prison hospital, shops and Annapurna center kitchen and visited the industrial complex where inmates engage in skill-based activities including manufacturing of soaps and home care products, weaving, carpentry, steel fabrication, tailoring and waste-to-wealth initiatives. He appreciated the standard of products, the wages paid to prisoners, the quality of food and the medical care provided.

Mr. Anand also interacted with the inmates and inquired about their living conditions, food, healthcare, education, vocational training and grievance redressal mechanisms. Terming the visit a valuable learning experience, he appreciated the work of jail officials and staff and lauded the reforms introduced under Soumya Mishra’s leadership, including the Nivruthi anti-addiction center for inmates involved in drug-related cases.

He congratulated Soumya Mishra, IG Prisons N. Murali Babu, DIG Prisons D. Srinivas, Inspector N. Shiva Kumar Goud and prison staff for the maintenance of Cherlapalli facility and their efforts towards reform-oriented and humane prison administration.
