M6 traffic LIVE: ‘Traffic halted’ on major motorway after horror crash | UK | News

Traffic is backed up on one of the M6s following a horrific multi-vehicle crash. One lane northbound on the M6 ​​has been closed between Carlisle, Cumbria and Junction 43 near the J44.

The incident caused traffic congestion for around six miles on the main highway and motorists were warned to be prepared for serious delays to their journeys.

National Highways said in a statement: “Traffic remains northbound on the M6 ​​between J43 and J44 near Carlisle following a multi-vehicle collision. Cumbria Roads Police and Ambulance are at the scene.”

It is not yet clear whether there was any loss of life.
