California deputies arrest 9 in cargo theft ring, seize $7M in stolen goods

Nine suspects were arrested after authorities in Southern California seized nearly $7 million in stolen cargo and nearly $1 million in cash from several retailers, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the suspects were taken into custody after detectives executed 13 search warrants in Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties between December and February.
The ministry’s social media post stated that the arrest warrants were served as part of an ongoing multi-agency investigation into organized crime and cargo theft.

Authorities said the rescued cargo included televisions, kitchen appliances, printers, sound bars, Ring cameras, air conditioning units, appliances, pool equipment, golf carts, ATVs, plush toys, clothing, shoes, energy drinks, liquor and cosmetics.

A total of 36 companies were targeted, including JB Hunt, Amazon, Sony, LG, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Costco, Wolff Shoes, Monster Energy and Disney.
According to authorities, the suspects face charges including grand theft of cargo, money laundering and receiving stolen goods.
