Call for Disability Aid Applications After Low Response

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad regional office of the department for empowerment of persons with disabilities, senior citizens and transgender persons has urged eligible disabled persons to apply for assistive devices after applications fell short of targets.

The insufficient number of applications from eligible beneficiaries led to the target of distributing various assistive devices not being met, officials said. He said the ministry has reopened the application window to provide broader coverage.

Devices for which targets are not met include battery-powered wheelchairs, mobile work battery-powered tricycles known as booster cars, wheelchairs with hybrid connectivity systems, laptops for undergraduate students, laptops for postgraduate or technical students, and tablet devices.

Eligible beneficiaries residing in Hyderabad region have been asked to apply for these devices through the Online Beneficiary Management and Tracking System.
