White House signs $901 billion defense bill passed by Senate Wednesday

President Trump signed into law a nearly $1 trillion defense policy bill on Thursday, approving what appears to be the largest military spending package in U.S. history.
The fiscal year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act authorizes $901 billion in military spending; That’s about $8 billion more than the administration requested. Reuters.
It also provides a nearly 4 percent pay increase for soldiers, provides new funding for Ukraine and the Baltic States, and includes measures designed to reduce security commitments abroad.
In a post shared online, Representative Rick Allen “With President Trump’s signature, the Fiscal Year 2026 NDAA officially delivers on our peace through force agenda by making generational investments in our national defense,” he said.

“This bipartisan bill not only ensures America’s warfighters are the most lethal and capable fighting force in the world, it also improves the quality of life for our service members in the 12th District and across the country,” he added.
As previously reported by Fox News Digital, the Senate passed the NDAA on Wednesday, sending the bipartisan compromise bill to the president’s desk.
According to Reuters, Trump quietly signed the agreement on Thursday evening.
The NDAA includes $800 million for Ukraine over the next two years under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which pays U.S. companies for weapons for the Ukrainian military.
There is also $175 million for the Baltic Security Initiative, which supports Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

The bill prohibits reducing the number of US troops in Europe below 76,000 for more than 45 days without formal approval by Congress.
The law also restricts the administration from reducing U.S. forces in South Korea below 28,500 troops.
According to Reuters, Trump ultimately supported the bill in part because it codifies some of his executive orders, including funding for the Golden Dome missile defense system and getting rid of diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, in his statement regarding the new measures on December 7, said, “Under President Trump, the United States is rebuilding its power, re-establishing its deterrence and proving that America will not back down. President Trump and the Republicans promised peace through force. The FY26 NDAA delivers on this.”
