Can new Liberal leader fix party’s women problem?

When newly elected Liberal leader Angus Taylor was asked whether he was concerned about what message the party’s first female leader might send to female voters, he had a ready answer.

“Our focus is to bring back all the people who are disillusioned with the Liberal Party.” said reporters. “It doesn’t matter whether it’s a man or a woman. We lost voters across the board.”

This was quite similar to the answer given by soon-to-be MP Jane Hume when asked at the gates that morning; this implied that he wanted to work to get it back. All voters.
