Farmer held for possessing country-made guns, explosives near Ambur

A 32-year-old farmer was arrested on Sunday on charges of illegal possession of four country-made weapons and 14 crude bombs from his agricultural land near Tirupattur’s Ambur town.
Police said that upon a tip-off, a special team searched the house and agricultural lands of suspect B. Satyanathan. They found village-made weapons, explosives, nets, flashlights and batteries. He reportedly told police that he made the weapons himself after watching some videos. He used pellets to hunt wild animals in the surrounding forests near the Tamil Nadu – Andhra Pradesh border. Police said the man also used it to prevent wild boars from damaging crops.
Police seized country-made weapons and other materials. A case has been registered by Ambur Town police. He was arrested and sent to the Central Jail in Vellore.
