‘Cannot believe it’s still happening’: readers respond to ‘heartbreaking’ domestic violence homicides | Australia news

Guardian Australia’s Broken Trust series has revealed allegations of policing failures and inadequately investigated cases ahead of domestic violence and family violence murders.

Throughout the week we uncovered new information about the cases of Hannah Clarke and her children Gail Karran and Kardell Lomas.

Our two-year investigation into the handling of these cases by Queensland police and coroners has received a huge response from the public and the Guardian’s supporters.

We wanted to share some of these reactions with you.

Actor and comedian Magda Szubanski responded to comments about Lomas’ murder by posting on X.

She wrote: “This is heartbreakingly tragic, horrifying and enraging. I worked at a women’s shelter 40 years ago and experienced first hand arrogant police and a hostile/condescending system. I still can’t believe this is the case.”
