Car explodes into ball of fire on NYC street, injuring seven firefighters
Seven firefighters were hospitalized after a car exploded on a New York City street Wednesday night.
Horrific images taken from the scene showed a ball of fire growing in the distance and rising into the air as firefighters tried to extinguish the blaze.
The New York City Fire Department reported that the call came in for a car fire in the Bronx, and when firefighters arrived they found multiple cars and piles of garbage engulfed in flames.
In the explosion that occurred at the scene at 19.06, seven firefighters were injured, five of whom had burns on their hands and faces.
The three were later taken to a local hospital.
“The burns are considered serious but not life-threatening,” the FDNY said in X.
‘Our firefighters are awake, alert and talking but they have some serious burns and we will be praying for them.’
No injuries to pedestrians were reported and the fire was completely under control as of 20.19. New York Post report.

The fire broke out just hours after Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker delivered his letter of recognition
It remains unclear what could have caused the explosion, which occurred a few hours after the city’s fire brigade official delivered the letter of recognition.
Robert Tucker, who is Jewish, will leave his post on December 19. sources told New York Post.
His resignation came hours after anti-Israel Democrat Socialist Mamdani defeated Republican Curtis Sliwa and former state governor Andrew Cuomo.
It is not known exactly why he submitted his resignation. The Daily Mail reached out to Tucker for further comment.
A source said New York Daily News He said there had been no discussions between Tucker and Mamdani’s team about him continuing as the new mayor.
The same source added that because of Tucker’s religion and pro-Israel stance, the commissioner thought he would not fit well with Mamdani and his team.
Mamdani’s victory, with 50 percent of the vote, means he will become the city’s first Muslim mayor.
He told his supporters: ‘I am a Muslim. I am a democratic socialist. And worst of all, I refuse to apologize for any of this.’
The 34-year-old addressed the president directly, saying: ‘Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: Turn up the volume!’
Tucker will now reportedly return to running a private security firm he ran before joining Mayor Eric Adams’ administration.
But before that, he was scheduled to fly to Israel later to meet with a fire commissioner friend.
After the fire was completely brought under control at 20.19, the burning vehicle was photographed.
No pedestrians were injured in the explosion.
Five firefighters were taken to a local hospital for burns of varying severity.
Tucker was elected New York City’s fire commissioner last August and had no real experience as a firefighter.
His father, Barry Tucker, held a copy of the Tanach used at his bar mitzvah with Mayor Adams during Tucker’s inauguration.
Gothamist reported Last December, just six weeks before he was sworn in, eight employees from Tucker’s firm donated to Adams’ re-election campaign.
The Campaign Finance Board raised questions by marking that the payments all came on the same day, from employees of the same company.
The flagged donations were $200 each and were all made on June 30 of last year, according to the report. Adams then appointed Tucker on August 12.
