Putin praises Trump’s peace efforts on Israel-Hamas and other conflicts

Russian President Vladimir Putin praised President Donald Trump’s efforts to negotiate peace agreements around the world, specifically citing his work in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
“He is really doing a lot to resolve such complex crises that have been going on for years, even decades,” Putin said at a summit in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where he met with leaders of nations that were once part of the former Soviet Union. he said.
These remarks came in response to a question about whether Trump had overlooked the Nobel Peace Prize.

The award was presented to Venezuelan opposition leader and democracy activist María Corina Machado on Friday morning.
“There were cases when the committee awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to people who did nothing for peace,” Putin said. “A person comes – for good or bad – and [gets it] in a month, in two months – explosion. Why? He did nothing.

“In my view, these decisions have greatly damaged the prestige of this award,” he continued.
In September, Trump talked about the possibility of him being nominated for the Nobel Prize again, even though he helped end many conflicts.
“If this works, we’ll have eight to eight in eight months. That’s pretty good,” Trump said in a speech to dozens of top generals and admirals in Quantico, Virginia. “No one has ever done this. Are you going to get the Nobel Prize? Absolutely not.

“They’re going to give it to a guy who didn’t do anything,” he continued. “They’re going to give it to the guy who wrote a book about the mind of Donald Trump and what it takes to solve wars. The Nobel Prize will go to an author.”
