The man who knocked a police officer unconscious by headbutting him was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
Liam Moriarty, 31, of no fixed address, was arrested on September 6, 2025, after being involved in a car crash. The person injured in the collision was taken to Bedford Hospital for evaluation.
There he head-butted Special Constable Jack Capener with such force that both men were knocked unconscious, with SPC Capener also suffering a broken nose.
Bedfordshire Police said he continued his “violent outburst”, causing more than £5,000 worth of damage to hospital equipment.
Moriarty pleaded guilty to charges of harming GBH, assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage on February 27.
