Kristen Pierce-Sherrod, CEO of Harold’s Chicken and daughter of the restaurant’s founder, Harold Pierce, has died, her family announced.
News of Pierce-Sherrod’s death was shared in a since-deleted statement posted on Instagram on behalf of both Harold’s Chicken Corporate and the Chicago Children’s Equestrian Center, with which Pierce-Sherrod was closely affiliated.

“On behalf of Harold’s Chicken Corporate and Chicago Children’s Equestrian Center, we are deeply saddened to announce the death of our Chief Executive Officer, Kristen D. Pierce-Sherrod,” the statement said. CBS News report. “The family expresses their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and condolences. No additional details were provided about the date or cause of Pierce-Sherrod’s death. His family said the funeral will be announced later.

Pierce-Sherrod has carried forward the legacy started by his parents more than seventy years ago by running Harold’s Chicken, one of Chicago’s most well-known and beloved dining institutions. The restaurant was founded in 1950 by Harold Pierce and his wife, Hilda Pierce, as a small neighborhood spot on Chicago’s South Side, according to a company statement. website.
Over the years, Harold’s Chicken has grown far beyond its original location into a regional brand with restaurants in eight states.
