CEO of Prince Harry and Meghan’s charity steps down

The CEO of Archewell, the charity founded by Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, said he will leave his position and return to London after five years in Los Angeles.

James Holt, who has worked with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for nearly a decade, will remain as senior philanthropic advisor and continue to support their humanitarian trips overseas in 2026, a spokesman for the couple said.

Holt praised the work done through the foundation, particularly helping families affected by online harm, and said it inspires him every day.

“James has been a wonderful support to us for almost a decade,” the royal couple said in a statement.

“His enthusiasm and ability to oversee our philanthropic efforts were extraordinary.”

Holt said working for Harry and Meghan was “one of the greatest privileges” of his career.

“From my first project with Prince Harry eight years ago to improve mental health support for soldiers in the British army, to our recent work to help injured children in Gaza, he has continually challenged me to think bigger about how we can make a difference,” Holt said. he said.

He said he recognized a kindred spirit as soon as he met Meghan, describing her as “someone who finds joy even in difficult moments and connects with people in an authentic way no matter the circumstances.”

Earlier this month, Harry and Meghan announced plans to rebrand their foundation, which they founded in 2020 as Archewell Philanthropies, after stepping down from royal duties and moving to the US.

Since its founding, Archewell has focused on issues such as online harm and mental health, and in September donated $500,000 ($744,000) to help children in Gaza and Ukraine. Harry and Meghan also run Archewell Productions, which has a multi-year deal with Netflix.
