CG Semi to launch nation’s first ‘Made in India’ semiconductor chip — Here’s all you need to know about the firm

The Indian Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that on August 28, 2025 Thursday, more than one news portal reported that CG Semi, a joint venture of CG Power and Industrial solutions, launched the first ‘Made’ semiconductor chip in India.
Speaking at the opening event of CG Semi’s facility, the Minister’s outsourced semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) pilot facility will be behind the production of the semiconductor chip in the company, he said.
Vaishnaw also said that the facility will produce 0.5 million or 5 lakh ‘production’ chips per day.

CG Semi’s ‘Made-In-Intia’ Chip Production Plan
According to the report of the news portal, CG Semi’s full facility (G2 facility) will vary between 28-32 acres and will produce approximately 14.5 million chips per day.
Vaishnaw said that the construction of the larger facility will start at 2026 and that full -scale production was set to start from 2027. Other fragmented companies such as Micron, Kaynes Technology and Tata are reported to have started to build pilot lines.
