Changes to ‘toxic, broken’ Defence system one year after Royal Commission

Since a royal commission for defense and senior suicide, one year, the federal government began to implement some changes, focus on prosperity, establish a defense and veteran service commission, military sexual behaviors and military justice system.
Veterans Affairs Minister Matt Kegh will make an update to Parliament on Thursday about the progress since the last report was published in September last year.
The government accepted or accepted 104 proposals in principle and recorded 17 more for more work.
So far nine suggestions have been implemented and the government is working on 110 more suggestions.
The Defense and Veterans Service Commission has been a law within three months after the government’s response to the Royal Commission and will continue until the end of this month.
Recruitment for a commissioner continues and the government will announce operational financing for four years.
The government will also publish a new website for DVA with AI Tools to provide better information to the defense and senior mental health and welfare strategy and the veterans looking for help on Thursday.
Other initiatives include the development of a female veterans strategy and the creation of a comprehensive brain damage program.
Mental health and suicide awareness training was also delivered to 67,300 ADF personnel.

When they will contact the joint military police unit and their sexual abuse policies, including guidance for leaders to review the defense complaints and decisions guide, have been updated.
A temporary directive was made to suspend and/or unintentionally suspend the ADF members who are allegedly in serious abuse of ADF members.
When the members of the ADF are convicted of crimes, the studies have been completed to implement the assumption of discharge.
While a task force conducted independent researches on the prevalence of military sexual trauma, studies were carried out to develop reference conditions for a sexual abuse.
Meanwhile, a military justice assurance branch was established in defense.
An independent investigation has also begun the potential abuse of the military administrative system to harm the ADF members.
In the process of involuntary separation, consultancy began to impose a compulsory obligation to take into account the mental health.
There are more plans to register the conviction of sexual crimes committed by ADF members with civil criminal records.

Mr. Keogh will tell the parliament that people want to serve in the Australian Defense Force and make sure that they and their families will be well supported.
“They must be safe in the knowledge that they and their families will be looked at properly and their services will be accepted by a grateful nation, whatever they are in service,” he says.
“When a person joins the defense power, we know that their families make sacrifices with them. It is viewed at all stages of the defense journeys of important families.
“It is the duty of our country to strengthen and support the mental health and prosperity of our defense and senior community.
“It wasn’t real for too long.”
The Royal Commission received news from thousands of existing and former defense members and family.
“We have heard systems that are frankly broken, toxic and are not enough to support our Aussie personnel, Ke Kegh says.
“We heard these calls and acting.”
