Chaotic scenes after man, woman injured in machete attack in Melbourne CBD

A man has been arrested and two others seriously injured in a machete attack in Melbourne’s CBD.
Police said a man armed with a machete was on the corner of Queen St and Flinders St in the Melbourne CBD shortly after 2.30am on Monday morning.
He attacked a man and woman on the street.
The woman, thought to be in her 20s, was treated for upper-body injuries and taken to Alfred hospital in a serious condition.
A man in his 20s also suffered mid-body injuries and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.


Police blockaded the area on Monday morning and shoes and bags were strewn on the stairs of a nearby building.
Police confirmed the arrest of a man.
No charges were made.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated,” the police statement said.
