Charges DROPPED against teens who accidentally killed their teacher during prank at his house

Charges have been dropped against a group of Georgia teenagers who accidentally killed their teacher during a prank at his home after his widow pleaded with prosecutors to drop the case against the teens.
The group of five students, comprising 18 people, was charged following the death of Jason Hughes, a 40-year-old math teacher and coach at North Hall High School.
Hughes died when he was struck by a pickup truck outside his Gainesville home during a prom season prank.
Jayden Wallace was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide and reckless driving, while Elijah Tate Owens, Aiden Hucks, Ana Katherine Luque and Ariana Cruz were also charged with misdemeanor charges of trespassing and littering.
The District Attorney for the Georgia Northeast Judicial Circuit confirmed: WHEN He said all charges were dropped.
Authorities said the five men arrived at Hughes’ home as part of a long-standing prom season prank tradition in which students decorate their homes with toilet paper.
The young people got into two vehicles and started wrapping trees and properties with paper. As they were leaving, Hughes walked out.
Hughes then tripped, fell on the road and was run over when one of the teens began driving away in a pickup truck. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Hughes left behind his wife, Laura, who was also a teacher, and their two young sons.
Family members emphasized in their statement that Hughes did not confront the students angrily.
In the statement made by the Hughes family, relatives described the moments that led to the accident and called for tolerance to the young people.
‘There was no conflict’ Jason knew the students were coming and was excited, waiting to ‘catch’ them in the act.
‘It was raining and as they were driving away he accidentally slipped and fell onto the road in front of the vehicle and crashed into it.
‘Students immediately tried to provide assistance until paramedics arrived. Jason loved these students and they loved him.
‘Our family fully supports dropping the charges of everyone involved. This is a terrible tragedy, and our family is determined to prevent another tragedy from happening that would devastate the lives of these students.
‘This would go against Jason’s lifelong commitment to investing in the lives of these children.

Wallace was arrested and charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, criminal trespass and littering of private property; The charges have now been dropped.

In a statement to ABC News, Wallace said: ‘I promise to live the rest of my life in a way that honors the memory of Coach Hughes, following the example of Jesus. He will never be forgotten.’
Another statement from his family said: ‘Along with the rest of our family, Jay expresses his deepest sorrow and sincere apologies to the Hughes family.
‘Jason Hughes meant the world to our son’ and added that they were ‘grieving such a tremendous loss’.
Hughes taught math at North Hall High School and helped coach golf, football and baseball.
Colleagues and students described him as a fiercely loyal mentor who invested in young people on and off the field.
Hughes leaves behind his wife, Laura, who is also a teacher, and their two young sons.
