Tammy Abraham transfer news: Aston Villa resign striker in £18m deal

This isn’t the first time Villa have tried to re-sign Abraham; They continued to take care of him and were at the table when the striker moved earlier.
But Villa were not the club Emery had turned into in 2021 when Abraham opted to join Roma.
Abraham also turned down Arsenal as he sees Roma’s project under Mourinho as an ideal platform to progress and the striker’s time in Serie A should be seen as a success.
One of the key factors behind the decision to return to the Premier League is the desire for an England recall as the World Cup approaches this summer.
Abraham has not played for his country since the Nations League match against Italy in 2022 and would have been sidelined if he had remained in Türkiye.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has rediscovered his Premier League form with Leeds; So if Abraham can get on the field under Emery, it could put him back in the selection conversation almost four years after he last played.
Abraham also has two young children and had a strong desire to return home for personal reasons.
Chelsea had the option to buy back but due to the change of ownership at Stamford Bridge this was never on the cards.
He underlined his determination by taking a pay cut to join Villa, and by winning the Champions League and Conference League he has the chance to complete a European hat-trick in the Europa League with his new club this season.
Although it is earlier than expected and there are only six months left in his Besiktas spell, a return to Villa Park is seen as perfect timing.
But Emery’s plan and vision for the striker convinced him; He didn’t need much convincing.
Abraham enjoyed his time in Türkiye, but the opportunity to return to the Premier League and Villa was ultimately too good an opportunity to refuse.
