“The View” guest host Abby Huntsman argued Friday that Democrats should focus on supporting the future they want to deliver for the American people rather than obsessing over President Donald Trump.
The co-hosts of “The View” were discussing how multiple potential Democratic presidential candidates were simultaneously appearing in interviews about their past traumas in an effort to make themselves seem relatable.
The panel was divided on using one’s past traumas as a tool to gain political support. Co-host Joy Behar argued that Trump grew up in a dysfunctional family with a bad father and mother, but that he, like Democrats, refused to treat or confront his past traumas, according to a book written by his niece.
In response, Huntsman argued that people should stop obsessing over Trump.

“I was going to say Democrats have a tremendous opportunity here. If you look at the polls, no one is ahead by a wide margin. This is a moment where you lose twice to Trump. People are looking for someone who will really stand up, be an inspirational leader,” he said.
Hunstman continued: “Some say ‘Let’s attack Trump more’. I think the opposite. I would love to never hear that name again and step into the future of this country.”

“He went on to criticize Democrats who said, ‘Let’s go after the family, let’s go after the fraud,'” and instead said, “It’s like we were there, too.” Who goes into the sewers with Trump and comes out looking better? That’s not the way to go.”
“Everything he touches dies,” Behar joked.
“There’s a book with that title. Melania wrote it,” he joked.
Fox News Digital reached out to the White House but did not immediately receive a response.
