Charlotte area school districts closed Monday due to potential severe weather

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — We’re tracking potential severe weather moving into the Charlotte area Monday morning, which could bring storms, possible tornadoes and damaging winds.

The potential for strong and severe storms is increasing in the area, which is currently at Increased Risk due to severe weather. These potential storms could produce damaging winds and possible tornadoes, which are of greatest concern.

Due to the forecast, local school districts are adjusting their schedules to Monday, March. 16:

North Carolina

Anson County Schools – Non-Student Day (Closed to Employees)

Ashe County Public Schools – Early Expulsion

Cabarrus County Schools – Distance Learning

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools – Closed

Newton-Conover Schools – Closed

Richmond County Schools – Closed

Rowan-Salisbury Schools – Closed

Stanley County Schools – Closed

Union County Public Schools – Remote

South Carolina

Chester County Schools – Closed

Chesterfield County Schools – Distance Learning

Clover School District – Remote Learning

Fort Mill Schools – Closed

Lancaster County School District – Closed

Rock Hill Schools – Closed
