Cheating Case Filed Against Singer Mangli

Hyderabad: Popular Telugu folk singer Mangli (Satyavathi) is reportedly facing serious legal trouble after a lawyer accused him, his brother and others of cheating, financial fraud and criminal intimidation of nearly ₹10 million in business fraud related to a microfinance scheme.

Punjagutta police registered a case and according to the complaint, nearly 100 people were allegedly persuaded to deposit money with the promise of high returns through film financing and related business activities. Investors claim that neither returns nor original investments have been repaid despite attractive assurances of profits. When repeated attempts to get their money back failed, the matter was taken to the police.

The complaint also states that the allegation that Subbarao, the lawyer representing the investors, was threatened and intimidated while questioning the defendant about repayment, increases the seriousness of the case.

Based on these allegations, the police reportedly registered a case under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 351(2) and 352 and other relevant sections relating to cheating and criminal threats.

This issue has received widespread attention, given Mangli’s popularity in Telugu folk music and films. Known for songs like “Bullet Bandi”, “Rela Re Rela Ra” and “Bayilone Balipalike”, the artist has a strong fan base in Telugu-speaking regions. The investigation is currently ongoing and more details are expected to emerge as authorities pursue the case.
