The US Consulate in Hyderabad will have a special rest facility for Telangana State Special Police (TSSP) personnel posted at the consulate. The facility is being constructed by Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL).
The foundation stone of the facility, built entirely with funds from MEIL, was laid by MEIL Director P. Sudha Reddy at the site opposite the US Consulate, where the land was allotted by the government.
Additional Director General of Police (Battalions) Sanjay Kumar Jain, Madhapur DCP Rithiraj, 8th Battalion Commander M. Ramakrishna, Deputy Commandants M. Pardhasaradhi Reddy and S. Rambabu, along with US Consulate security officials were also present.
Designed to accommodate up to 50 police personnel, the new prefabricated barracks includes all the necessary facilities for police to rest and refresh between shifts.
Ms. Sudha Reddy said that despite their invaluable service, police personnel often do not get the recognition they deserve and this is a small gesture towards MEIL’s services.
Madhapur DCP Rithiraj said the police were working under extremely challenging conditions and appreciated MEIL’s initiative. Currently, TSSP staff deploys 24 officers per shift to guard the U.S. Consulate.
The US Consulate in Nanakramguda, Hyderabad is one of the largest consulates in South Asia and handles approximately 3,500 visa applications per day and serves applicants from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
