Chelsea 2-1 Paris FC: Alyssa Thompson ‘a real bright spark’ but best ‘is still to come’

Chelsea’s superiority Victory against Paris FC It was illuminated by the newest member of their attack, Alyssa Thompson, who nimbly ran across the Stamford Bridge pitch and eventually received the rewards her efforts deserved.
Thompson may only be 20 years old, but his arrival at Chelsea comes with huge expectations stemming from the club’s record price tag. Now, in his seventh appearance, he has finally hit the mark.
She burst down the flanks and led her team’s counter-attacks, displaying an expert positioning to put herself in the right place to score Johanna Rytting Kaneryd’s goal, and a perfect Keira Walsh strike to score her first goal for the club.
It was an impressive showing but manager Sonia Bompastor says her best is yet to come.
“He’s a young player, he’s very talented, but I think we haven’t seen the best of him yet, but hopefully we’ll see that soon,” Bompastor said.
“He comes from abroad, he speaks the language, that helps, but it’s still a new environment, a new club, he has to learn to connect with new players on the pitch, new teammates, so hopefully, even sooner, we’ll see a better version of him.”
Brighton striker Fran Kirby, who previously spent nine years at Chelsea, says Thompson’s first goal was one that would “relieve” him.
Former Scotland captain Rachel Corsie added that she imagined the “floodgates would open” after Thompson scored.
“It’s been a really bright spark,” Kirby said on BBC Radio 5 Live. “I think he looked very sharp against Tottenham, that was probably the end product.
“Getting that assist and goal today will make him feel a little bit more comfortable going into the next game. It will take some pressure off.”
