‘Real reason’ Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made latest trip to NYC | Royal | News

A royal expert has revealed a deeper reason for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s visit to New York last week to receive an award for their humanitarian efforts. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in the Big Apple last Thursday, where they spent several days attending various engagements and meeting celebrities.
Harry and Meghan were awarded philanthropists of the year for their efforts at the Healthy Minds Project Gala in New York last Thursday. There, the Duke warned that the impact of social media on children was “one of the most pressing issues of our time”, while Meghan added that the couple often discussed how to protect their own children, six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lili, as they grew up.
But according to a royal expert, there is a hidden meaning behind the couple’s latest award.
Veteran royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Express: “Meghan’s visit to New York with Harry was to receive the gloriously titled Humanitarian of the Year Award from Project Healthy Minds.
“The charity Archewell is also a partner in the company, so it’s no surprise they won this award. It’s a new award without a lot of cachet.
“Cynics might say that although they have done some impressive work in the field of mental health, the real reason they were awarded this award is because of the worldwide recognition of that work.”
Earlier on Thursday, the Duke spoke at a panel discussion for men’s health charity Movember and warned that men were suffering in silence and isolation.
On Friday, the Duke and Duchess attended the Project Healthy Minds World Mental Health Day Festival.
Later that day, the couple was spotted having lunch with their close friend, tennis star Serena Williams, at Soho House in New York.
On Saturday, the couple was spotted alone all over Manhattan, meeting up with various celebrity friends.
Meanwhile, the couple’s Archewell Foundation announced that its Parents Network initiative has joined forces with ParentsTogether, a nonprofit organization dedicated to family advocacy and online safety.
The Duchess shared a part of the couple’s visit to New York by posting a new video on her official Instagram account.
Mr Fitzwilliams added: “Meghan’s new video looks very over-the-top, with rows and rows of shoes and dresses. You get the sense that the allure of luxury is irresistible for her, but she needs to keep in mind that it’s out of the reach of many. The trip was about a serious subject, to which the Sussexes contributed. This chaotic video looked childish, simplistic and unroyal.”
