Child hit by freight train
A one-year-old girl died after being hit by a freight train on the northwestern slopes of the state.
NSW Police said the boy was struck by the train while walking along Baranbah Street in Baan Baa, west of Armidale, on Thursday night.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious injuries. He died in hospital a short time later.
The freight train was driven by a 22-year-old man who was hospitalized for mandatory testing.
Baan Baa is a small town with 166 people from 47 families at the time of the 2021 census.
