Children injured as school bus roof ripped off after hitting bridge

Several children were injured when a school bus crashed into a bridge in Coppull, Lancashire, on Wednesday afternoon.

Lancashire Police were called to Spending Road in Coppull just after 12.30pm to reports the bus had crashed into the bridge.

Emergency services are currently at the scene and the road is closed to traffic.

While passengers were being taken off the bus, many children were injured. Police said injuries are thought to be “relatively minor” at this time.

The intervention of children by medical teams continues.

Photos taken from the scene show that the roof of the bus was removed.
