Four children were taken to hospital after a fire broke out in an apartment of an 11-storey building in London.
Fire crews responded to a fire at the building on Barrington Road in Lambeth, where a maisonette on the fifth and sixth floors was completely destroyed by fire. London Fire Brigade said more than 20 people were evacuated from the building and four children were taken to hospital as a precaution.
The service’s control office also said they received the first of 23 calls about the fire at 8.05am and sent fire crews from Brixton, Clapham, Peckham and other surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was taken under control at 09.33.
Fire crews reported that the cause of the fire was being investigated. The Daily Express has contacted the London Fire Brigade for more information.
