Child’s viral, uncensored response to Artemis II moon launch steals spotlight

A boy told CNN in a video published Wednesday that went viral for his excited reaction to the launch of Artemis II.
According to CNN, the video was from the Tuesday before the launch but was posted at the time of its release on Wednesday. A reporter asked the boy, “Why do you want to be here? Why do you love space? Why do you love being a part of history?” he asked.
The boy replied: “We’re going back to the damn moon. That’s why!”

Reacting to the viral clip, CBS Sports’ NASCAR writer Steven Taranto wrote: “It’s a great thing to be an American.”

Some described the boy as a “legend” because of his excitement.

The boy, named Jack, told CBS News he was “obsessed with space.”

“I’m going to see the rocket launch into space, because I’m so obsessed with space, I’m going to see the rocket launch from the ground into the sky, so it’s going to be totally exciting,” the boy said.
