Trump To Present Trophy at FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, Says Infantino

New York: US President Donald Trump will be on hand to present the World Cup final trophy at the New Jersey Stadium in New York on July 19, FIFA president Gianni Infantino said on Tuesday.
The global football boss has developed an increasingly friendly relationship with the US president, handing him the inaugural edition of the FIFA Peace Prize he invented in December as Trump seeks the sport’s megawatt spotlight.
Speaking on the “Fox and Friends” television program, Infantino said, “Of course we will be with the president who enjoyed the final and gave the trophy to the winner.” he said.
FIFA said it had no comment beyond Infantino’s televised remarks.
Trump was greeted with boos and chants when he handed the trophy to Club World Cup champions Chelsea last year and stood in the middle of the team during the trophy lift at the same East Rutherford, New Jersey, stadium, confusing some players.
He has since attended the U.S. Open men’s tennis final, Ryder Cup golf and the NBA Finals in the greater New York metropolitan area he once called home.
While the World Cup continues in the United States, Canada and Mexico, New York New Jersey will host the final of eight matches.
