M66 traffic LIVE: Cars at standstill as crash and floods spark chaos | UK | News

Parts of the M66 were closed in both directions due to flooding and a crash caused disruption to the main motorway.

The incident occurred between Junction 1 and the A56 junction near Ramsbottom in Greater Manchester after the road was flooded due to heavy rain and downpour following Storm Bram.

Traffic tracker Inrix added: “M66 Southbound closed, long delays from A56 (Ramsbottom Junction) to J1 A56 Walmersley Road (Ramsbottom) due to flooding and crash. Sensors show northbound release.”

The Met Office’s official weather warning will remain in force until 3pm today, warning people across the country of similar disruptions.
