Detransitioner Chloe Cole said during a recent appearance on “The Adam Carolla Show” that mainstream media outlets are “trying to suppress” the involvement of transgender people in violence, suggesting the problem is linked to broader mental health issues.

“Much of the mainstream media tries to suppress the incidents of these transgender attackers and not make a clear connection between the mental health issues that led to their transition and the tragedy that ensued,” Cole said. he said.

The discussion began with host Adam Carolla questioning the psychological effects of hormone treatments and medications.

“It makes sense to me that if you’re going through all this hormonal therapy, your brain should be kind of primed,” Carolla said, asking whether this might make violent behavior “much more plausible.”

Cole later referenced his own experience with transition-related treatments, saying that the medications took him by surprise and altered his sense of reality.

“I know how confusing this is because I take these drugs myself… Being told it will make you happy, and then it derails you even further,” she said.

Cole said public conversations often veer toward extremes, with some avoiding the topic altogether and others reducing complex cases to a single explanation without examining broader factors or context.

“Of course there are people who immediately dismiss them by saying, ‘Oh, they’re just crazy and they just have mental illness,'” Cole said.

Cole argued that deeper mental health issues are often left unresolved, with medical experts and cultural pressures reinforcing the shift rather than addressing the root causes, characterizing it as a broader institutional collapse.

“The bigger picture is that there was a systemic failure to understand the real problems of these individuals, and then doctors made it worse,” he said.

Cole also touched on the role of media narratives in shaping the broader debate surrounding transgender violence.

“The mainstream media perpetuates this by choosing to support the ideology rather than question it and its role in this violence,” Cole said. “If we want to move forward, if we want to prevent violence, we all have to come together. Regardless of where we stand on this issue or politically, we have to discuss this issue honestly, openly, and confront the real problems behind the increasing incidence of transgender violence.”
