HYDERABAD: The school education department will send 160 teachers and education officials on a study tour to Japan, Finland, Singapore and Vietnam in November to familiarize educators with global best practices in school education and adopt these methods to improve the quality of education in public schools. The selected teachers will be divided into four teams and each will visit one of the four countries separately.
According to official sources, candidates who will participate in the tour must have at least 10 years of teaching experience and be under the age of 55. Officials said the application process was met with great response and hundreds of teachers applied by the October 22 closing date.
The selection will be carried out by expert committees led by district collectors. Each district will nominate three outstanding teachers selected from various cadres including SGT/LP/PET/TGT, SA/PGT and principals or principals from Zilla Parishad, government schools, model schools and TREIS institutions.
A state-level expert committee will make the final selection based on a comprehensive evaluation. Key criteria include teachers’ initiative in student enrollment, English language proficiency, and awards or recognitions received.
