Cleveland line train services halted after truck crash at Pine Street bridge in Wynnum
Queensland Rail has released video showing the moment a driver crashed a truck into a railway bridge on Wednesday morning, halting train services on the Cleveland line for more than an hour.
The driver was carrying machinery when they tried to pass under the Pine Street bridge in Wynnum just before 7.30am.
Accident footage shows that the truck was thrown upwards as a result of being hit by the machine that hit the bridge’s protection beam.

Another vehicle was driving in the opposite direction at the time, but no one was injured.
The accident halted train services until 9 a.m., with replacement buses operating until then.
QR released the images asking drivers to be aware of their vehicle and load height.

There were 29 guard beam strikes and two bridge strikes at the Pine Street underpass last fiscal year.
“Fortunately, the railway bridge did not sustain major damage due to this guard beam, but our customers were still delayed while crews inspected the bridge to ensure it was safe to return service,” QR’s south-east Queensland president Neil Backer said.
