Daughter Apple Martin borrows her vintage dress for premiere

Salma Hayek’s daughter Valentina Pinault reached into the depths of history to accompany her mother at the 2023 Oscars. Pinault chose a strapless red Isaac Mizrahi dress that her mother had worn in 1997, long before her birth.

Even the royal family is not immune to the allure of second-hand haute couture, much to the relief of Princess Charlotte, who keeps a close eye on the wardrobe of her mother, Catherine, Princess of Wales.

Princess Catharina-Amalia, the 22-year-old heir to the Dutch throne, wore Theresia Vreugdenhil’s apple green dress at an event celebrating Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary in October. The dress with a beaded bodice was first worn by her grandmother, Queen Beatrix, on an official visit to Belgium in 1981. Catharina-Amalia’s mother, Queen Maxima, wore the dress to a concert in Amsterdam in 2014.

In July 2020, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson’s daughter Princess Beatrice bypassed her mother’s eclectic and vibrant wardrobe to choose a dress first worn by her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, for her wedding day. Beatrice said it was an “honor” to wear the dress. For Apple, wearing her mother’s clothes seems to be more of a habit.
