Govt Warns Action Against Strike By Its Employees

Chennai: While some unions of government employees are preparing to hold a ceremony thanking Prime Minister MK Stalin for his efforts to redress their grievances, introduce a pension scheme and end the agitation of government employees, some unions have called for protests on Tuesday, February 3 and February 8.
Taking notice of the strike calls, State Chief Secretary N Muruganandam on Monday issued orders to senior government officials and all district collectors to take stringent action against such protests by ‘unrecognized’ associations. He asked the collectors to ensure that employees do not participate in strikes called by unrecognized teachers and government employees unions.
He also said that the ‘no work, no pay’ norm will be implemented and the absence of striking employees and teachers will be treated as unauthorized absences and they will not be given leave except in cases of medical emergencies.
