Coach carrying dozens of school children crashes in Somerset

After a coach where dozens of school children fell in Somerset, a major event was declared.

The 70 -person vehicle took the students back to Minehead Secondary School after a day trip when the incident took place near Minehead afternoon.

“Most of the passengers were removed from the bus. Devon and Somrseet Fire & Rescue Service is trying to release the rest of the residents and the South West ambulance service is at the scene.

“We do not have any information about the number of wounded or the level of injury.”

In an article in X, Tiverton and Minehead Deputy Rachel Gilmour said: “In the afternoon, I heard about a sad road traffic around the Wheeddon Cross.

“There are emergency services, so please give them a place to work.

“My thoughts are involved in the event.”

Transportation Secretary Heidi Alexander said: “I am aware of the serious incident with a bus near Minehead.

“With everyone involved in my thoughts. Emergency Services I get regular updates about the scene and about the situation.”
