Woman accused of mum’s murder after pair vanish for months | UK | News

A woman has been charged with murdering her mother, who mysteriously disappeared for several months earlier this year.
Lorna Nightingale, 70, was reported missing after being last seen in Lowestoft in February, while her daughter Emma Nightingale, 36, disappeared from Colchester in June. mirror reports.
The disappearances, which occurred four months and 65 miles apart, led Suffolk police to launch a major search operation on August 24.
Although the pair were found “safe and well” on September 30, it was revealed that Emma was facing murder charges in connection with her mother’s death in London.
Emergency services were called to Blackhorse Road in Walthamstow, London, on December 11 following reports of an unresponsive woman.
Lorna was pronounced dead at the scene but it is thought she could have died any time between 1 November and 11 December.
Emma, whose address was given as Blackhorse Road, Walthamstow, was remanded in custody before appearing at Thames Magistrates’ Court on December 13.
He will appear at the Old Bailey in London on January 9.
For more than a month, the search for Nightingales has been supported by the District Police Department, Missing Person Advisors, Technical Support Unit, Surveillance Unit and Intelligence Unit. A number of partner organizations and charities also provided assistance, including the British Transport Police.
When the investigation first began officers believed family members could potentially be found together in Essex, where both men allegedly had connections.
“Special concerns” for the welfare of women were expressed at the time.
