‘Reckless driver’ died after Liberty Twp. crash, sheriff’s office says

One person was killed in a fatal crash involving a reckless driver in Liberty Township, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver died on arrival at the University of Cincinnati West Chester hospital on Saturday, March 21. The sheriff’s office did not release the driver’s name.

The driver of the Mazda6 exited the Ohio 747, where he side-swiped a silver SUV before the vehicle headed north. The driver then made a U-turn and continued southbound on Ohio 747.

As the driver approached the bridge on Ohio 129, they ran a red light and crashed head-on into a Ford F-150. The Mazda driver then stopped after hitting the bridge railing.

The SUV driver was uninjured. The driver and passenger of the Ford were taken to UC West Chester hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The names or ages of those in the vehicle were not disclosed.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office traffic accident response team is investigating the incident.
