Cold weather conditions prevail in parts of Punjab, Haryana; Amritsar coldest at 2.8 degree Celsius

According to the meteorological department, cold weather conditions continued in parts of Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, with Amritsar reeling at a minimum temperature of 2.8 degrees Celsius.
The lowest temperature was recorded at 6 degrees Celsius in Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states.
Amritsar was the coldest place in Punjab, one degree below the normal minimum.

Pathankot recorded a low temperature of 4.7 degrees Celsius and Faridkot and Bathinda also recorded the same minimum of 5.2 degrees Celsius.
Ludhiana and Patiala recorded minimum temperatures of 5.4 degrees and 8.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
In Haryana, Bhiwani recorded the minimum temperature at 5.5 degrees Celsius, while Hisar’s minimum temperature settled at 5.7 degrees Celsius.
Ambala recorded a minimum temperature of 8.8 degrees Celsius, Gurugram recorded 9 degrees Celsius, Karnal recorded 7.8 degrees Celsius, while Sirsa and Narnaul recorded the same minimum of 6.5 degrees Celsius.
