Coleen Nolan has made her financial concerns clear during the brutal budget cuts imposed on Loose Women.

The long-time ITV presenter, 60, addressed the ‘regrettable’ changes to the daytime television show following the cuts.

In June last year, the Daily Mail exclusively revealed that the ITV program was preparing to undermine its live audience and make a desperate bid to save money as the channel’s budget cuts intensified.

speaking on Not My Bagg podcastColeen explained: ‘We will now only be open during term time. So all holidays will be holidays.

‘On the one hand, you are having a ‘pretty nice holiday’. But on the other hand, you say, “I still have bills to pay.”

He added: ‘It’s just a different vibe, I think it’ll be okay but I’ll miss a lot of different people behind the scenes.

‘It will still be live but there will be no audience and I don’t think they will be hosting guests. I feel like it’s like a podcast but on live television.’

He added: ‘But it could have been worse. They could have said: “By the way, we’re not recommissioning. See you later.” It’s still here, it’s still going.’

Coleen continued: ‘I love having the audience there. You know, you get all the feedback from the audience and you get the adrenaline from the audience. ‘This is going to be really weird for us.’

But despite the sadness, Coleen admitted she understood the business side of cost cutting.

He said: ‘They all need to find new jobs. So there is sadness. I understand that this is a business and sometimes tough decisions have to be made in business and nowadays it’s all about budgets.

‘TV is very different now. So if you think about how many channels there are, the competition… I can’t even count how many channels there are.

‘It is a different era now compared to 25 years ago. There were three channels in my childhood. That’s how old I am!

‘When I did the Cliff Richard series when I was nine, it was broadcast on a Saturday night and 23 million people watched it every week.’

Thanks to the cuts, Lorraine will move to a 30-week schedule where episodes are cut to half-hours, from 9.30am to 10pm.

This Morning will continue to air for two and a half hours from 10am to 12.30pm, while Good Morning Britain will be extended by 30 minutes.

Loose Women will continue as normal from 12.30 to 13.30, but the number of episodes will be reduced to a 30-week ‘seasonal’ based schedule.

The changes took place on Monday and the new studio is located at The H Club Studio in Covent Garden, London, after previously filming at the Television Center in the White City.
