The husband of the woman who accused Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil of rape has filed a complaint against the legislator with the Kerala Chief Minister and Director General of Police. In an emotionally written complaint, the complainant said his family was the target of cyber attacks. He alleged that the MLA had not only brought the family’s reputation into disrepute but also ruined the complainant’s family life.
The complaint alleged that the MLA had illegal relations with his wife despite knowing that the woman was married. The complainant seeks action against the MLA under Section 84 (seducing, taking away or detaining a married woman with criminal intent) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The complainant alleged that the MLA “trapped his wife” by taking advantage of her absence. The MLA claimed that she was trying to resolve some issues between the couple. But if the intention was to resolve the issues, he should have contacted her, the petition said.
He also claimed in his complaint that he was the “real victim” in the case as the family faced cyber attacks after the incident despite losing their lives.
The petition stated that although he was “mentally weak”, he was ready to proceed with the case. He added that he would present more evidence if necessary.

Previously, the special investigation team had recorded the husband’s statement upon the woman’s complaint.
Two cases of rape have been registered, Mr. Mamkootathil. The Supreme Court will hold the final hearing on the MLA’s bail request next Wednesday.
