Cong. Blames Escalating Energy Crisis On Union Govt’s Policies

Hyderabad: The Congress on Wednesday blamed the Union government’s “failed” foreign policy and neutral stance on the ongoing war in West Asia for the LPG crisis in the country. Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna and MLC Balmoor Venkat criticized the BJP-led Center for ignoring the famine and dismissing famine reports as “fake news”.
The MP said the Center was reluctant to accept the current reality or address the challenges faced by ordinary people. Speaking outside Parliament, he said the crisis was already affecting the hospitality sector, with more than 80 per cent of restaurants and hotels shut down.
“When restaurants and hotels close, employees employed through apps like Zomato and Zepto are also affected, leading to increased unemployment,” he said.
Balmoor Venkat questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi on India’s approach to Israel and claimed that it was putting the country’s energy security at risk. “Oil supplies from the Gulf have been affected due to failed diplomacy and the change in India’s policy towards Iran and Israel. Countries that remain neutral in this war face less energy crisis,” he said. “The central government ignored such a scenario without prior consideration,” he said.
He also said that the Centre’s earlier claim that India had a 74-day reserve had created confusion among states. “If the Center does not act carefully, domestic consumers will be in trouble. The hospitality industry, which is still trying to recover from the Covid quarantine, is once again being pushed into crisis,” he added.
