DC Impact – Malkajgiri Municipal Officials Inspect Dangerous Rocks on Tuesday

Hyderabad: Following a report in Deccan Chronicle about the dangers posed by loose rocks in residential areas, officials from Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) inspected many hill areas and dangerous rock formations in Gauthamnagar and Mallikarjunnagar of Malkajgiri on Tuesday.

The report titled “People living in rocky areas fear for safety”, published on Monday, highlighted the concerns of residents living on rocky hill slopes ahead of the monsoon season.

Additional commissioner CN Raghu Prasad and deputy commissioner Zakiya Sultana, chief engineer Ashok Reddy, chief engineer Lakshman, assistant executive engineer Prashanti, Mallikarjunnagar Welfare Association president Venkataiah, resident T. Karunakar and others inspected the rocks. During the visit, officials examined the condition of the rocks and chatted with local residents.

Officials assured residents that necessary steps would be taken immediately to clean and disinfect the entire area. It was stated that rocks determined to be risky and unstable will be removed in order to prevent accidents during heavy rain and strong winds.

Authorities also announced plans to turn hilly areas into rock parks once security work is completed. Residents welcomed the move and expressed hope that the long-awaited issue would finally be resolved.
