Heartbreak in Sheffield as body found at frozen pond | UK | News

Emergency services descended on the Sheffield suburb on Sunday evening where the body of a man was sadly discovered. South Yorkshire Police officers attended the scene at Arbourthorne Pond in the Arbourthorne area of ​​Sheffield.

Images taken from the region show that at least five police cars and an ambulance were present at the scene at some points today, January 11. Emergency teams investigating the pond area unfortunately found the body of a person they believed could be the missing woman named Eileen.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers searching for missing woman Eileen sadly found a body in Arbourthorne Pond in Sheffield today (January 11).

“Although formal identification has not yet taken place, officers believe this belongs to Eileen.

“His family have been notified and are now being supported by officers. Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal.”

The 60-year-old woman was last seen in the Errington Avenue area of ​​Arbourthorne between 4pm and 5pm on Saturday, January 10.

A local resident, who cited a large police presence in the area before the force released a statement sharing news of the tragic discovery, claimed emergency crews were “cutting through the ice” while at the pond.

Leo said Yorkshire Live: “There were a lot of police here. They pulled some people out of the pond, but I couldn’t see how they fell. They broke the ice.

“Children have been walking and cycling on it for the last few days. It’s really sad.”
