Davide Ancelotti: Brazil assistant manager and son of Carlo explains his game in his own words

“It is difficult to say that a single manager in football inspires you,” began 36-year-old Davide. “You get things from different managers.
“Pep Guardiola was cutting edge, a pioneer. You can’t forget Jurgen Klopp in high pressure, triggers. If we are talking about superiority, we have to mention Roberto de Zerbi, the little details he discovered on how to find the third man. I admired Diego Simeone’s defensive phase, Unai Emery and of course my father.
“My father came from the Arrigo Sacchi school, whose zone defense was 4-4-2.
“And all of these ideas have influenced my own identity as a manager. The process of creating my own identity as a manager is always an ongoing process. To some people, I look like my father, but I’m not exactly like him. I have a similar character, but I’m a different kind of manager.
“I don’t think a manager has to be one way or another. There’s always a middle ground. You adapt to the players and sometimes the opposition, but you also need clear ideas about what you like as a manager.
“Eventually the team will become what you emphasize and emphasize the things you love.”
