Man taken into custody in Clem 7 as another surrenders from rooftop
Police detained two men in a major traffic tunnel in Brisbane and on a rooftop in suburban Brisbane on Tuesday evening after a lengthy chase and negotiation.
At around noon on Tuesday, police received a report that several vehicles had been stolen in the area of Annerley and Woolloongabba.
A few hours later, patrol officers in the area found two men in a vehicle on Ipswich Road near the south entrance of the Clem Jones Tunnel.
Police said Polair and his canine team were called to assist, which resulted in a man in his 20s being detained in a major Brisbane tunnel.
A second man fled the scene and climbed into a house in Woolloongabba and remained on the roof for several hours.. Police suspected the house was not occupied at the time.
He surrendered to police shortly after 7.30pm and was also taken into custody.
The person, who was slightly injured while running away from the police, was taken to the hospital and treated.
No charges had been laid on Tuesday evening because the man, in his 20s, was assisting officers with investigations while the latter remained in hospital.
