Costa del Sol horror as woman’s leg crushed by bus bound for tourist city loved by Brits | World | News

A woman suffered multiple fractures in her leg following a serious accident at Malaga bus terminal on Thursday, February 13. The woman, who is estimated to be in her 30s but whose nationality is unknown, was seriously injured when she was hit and run over by a bus while the vehicle was maneuvering in a restricted area at around 7.30 in the morning local time.
Paramedics and Malaga Local Police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. The woman was taken by ambulance to Malaga Regional University Hospital and continues to receive treatment there. The local Policia also launched an investigation; Initial findings showed that the bus collided with the woman while turning in the maneuvering area. He fell to the ground and one of the wheels went over his legs.
The vehicle was operating on the Malaga-San Pedro Alcántara-Ronda line and had reached the Vialia María Zambrano station before heading towards the rest area. The bus was headed to Marbella, a popular city and holiday destination on Spain’s Costa del Sol region. The incident took place in an area reserved for buses and closed to pedestrian access.
Speaking to local media site Malaga Hoy, a security guard said, “The bus passed through the maneuvering area. It had not yet reached the platform and had not passed through the courtyard. It is forbidden to pass there; it is like walking in the middle of the road.” “The front right wheel ran over him. His leg was seriously injured.”
Another worker said that, as in the incident, there are blind spots in turning vehicles and that this becomes especially difficult in the dark. Two women nearby reportedly saw the danger and tried to warn him, but he did not react because he was wearing headphones.

According to eyewitnesses, the slow bus driver was visibly affected by what happened: “I was driving at low speed, but the cost of colliding with the bus was high due to the inertia it carried.”
The Traffic Accident Investigation Unit of the Malaga Local Police is currently reviewing CCTV footage and taking witness statements to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident.
Nearly 120,000 Brits flocked to Marbella in 2024, accounting for more than 71% of foreign tourists in some summer months; This makes the UK the second most important source market after Spanish nationals. Known for over 320 days of reliable sunshine year-round, Marbella is a popular destination for Brits thanks to its short and affordable flights from the UK, famous beach clubs, nightlife and golf courses.
