Costco hot dog bourbon sells out, resale prices reportedly hit $1,000

Costco’s famous $1.50 hot dog combo may have inspired an unexpected new product: a bottle of bourbon that sells out within hours.
The bottle, called “I Got My Inner Dog,” is a Rare Character single-barrel bourbon whose label features a hot dog and soda combination in Costco’s food court.
Limited to one per membership, the bottle debuted at a Washington, D.C.-area store, where it quickly caught the attention of bourbon aficionados and Costco fans alike.

The limited edition bottle, priced at $85.99, was listed as 126.1 proof and was 11 years and four months old, according to photos shared on social media.

“There was only one barrel and it sold out within hours,” Las Vegas-based co-founder Pete Nevenglosky told Fox News Digital.
“This particular bottle was just for the DC team, but we also did some bottlings for Costco’s LA location,” Nevenglosky said. “Future plans are in the works for expansion.”

The product’s meme-focused branding helped fuel the craze, tapping into online culture and Costco’s loyal fan base.
“I’ve got that dog in me” is a slang phrase often used to describe someone with courage and courage; It is used in sports and internet culture.

Some called the brand “genius” and “clever,” while one Reddit user declared, “This label is just perfect.”
The hot dog-themed label originated with Costco’s D.C. team, Nevenglosky said.

Rare Character is known for its high-proof, limited-release bourbons and ryes that have gained a strong following among collectors.
“Our single cask range is driven by unique whiskeys that are always rotating with a special artisanal component,” he said. “We have partnered with thousands of retailers, restaurants and whiskey clubs, with each barrel having its own unique label.”

Photos of the bottle spread across Reddit forums; users were sharing location tips, joking about the hashtag, and lamenting that they missed the sale.

One Reddit poster noted that the bottle sold out around 9:45 a.m. the day after it hit shelves, while others noted that the bottle was never listed on the app.

Someone who claimed to have obtained the bottle declared it “the company’s greatest success.” [their] Costco buys alcohol.”
Others said that despite the novelty label, the bourbon itself was high quality and did not taste like a hot dog.

One Reddit user noted that the whiskey had notes of oak, marshmallow, and spice, while another wrote that the bottle was “really good” and praised its long finish.
One Reddit user who wasn’t so lucky commented, “I’m happy for you and bummed at my local Costco stores at the same time.”

“I went looking for one in DC today to no avail,” said another.
“I would buy this in a heartbeat,” another said.

The scarcity of the bottle also increased this excitement; some posters claim resale offers currently range from $500 to $1,000, well above retail offers.

Others were less convinced; one user wrote: “Funny but this in no way makes me want to drink this.”
“Do people love Costco hot dogs that much?” someone else asked.

Still, rapid sales and resale growth suggest there will be continued demand for similar novelty releases as Rare Character explores future expansions.
